This is an art film. If you know, you know, but don't expect this to be a straightforward romance or fantasy. This is more of a play brought to screen. It's good, but very niche. You must like weird art films
It's not that exciting and it's a take on the 2 tribes trope. It starts full of promise but I didn't find myself invested in either side. The characters seem to be playing to their roles pretty thin. It just wasn't that engaging.
Not sure why this is so highly rated. There's nothing mission impossible about it. There's no trickery or wow factor. There are 2 main action sequences and they are full of the same thing you've seen before a million times. the plot is so thin you can see through it. a lot of "yeaaahhh right" unbelievable scenes. You can see Cruise's hairpiece and it takes you out of the film. bad.
I enjoyed it. It feels like it was made during the pandemic with everyone on cameras by themselves. But, it was tense and fun for me. You will have to do a lot of heavy lifting to suspend your disbelief.
I will say the trigger warning is alcoholism.
